Almost $13,000 of the $25,000 grant from UPS has provided a three-glass-door refrigerator, a three-glass-door freezer, and a rolling stainless steel work table for filling orders. The units are lighted with locking doors and built in thermometers for taking the required daily temperature reports. Chelsia can see inventory without having to open the doors! This new equipment allows LifeNet to more than quadruple food pantry services for our clients.
The remaining $12,000 will be used to provide for all HUD clients (not just Section 8), LifeNet housing clients, and mental health services clients, including clients from the residential re-entry program. Additionally, an annual one-time emergency order may be filled for residents in our zip code.
Not only do we have more funds to provide for food, but our dollars go over five times further with our new partnership/alliance with the North Texas Food Bank. A recent order filled by our previous supplier totaled $1,567 was compared to the same order from the North Texas Food Bank which came to $228, a savings of $1,339 or 85.4%! Thank you UPS and North Texas Food Bank!
